Deniliquin Rhinos’ under-13s Red team travelled to Finley High School again last Friday night, meeting Finley in an interesting encounter with a somewhat unexpected result.

Due to the Deni North school excursion, the team was undermanned, however the remaining players were in good form with the bat and ball.
The Red Rhinos won the toss and chose to bat first.
Daniel Burn and Will Crossley opened the innings with solid defence, and then both settled to score freely.
Both openers made several good shots.
Daniel made the most of some short deliveries and produced six excellent boundaries, and Will also cracked a beautiful straight drive to score a boundary.
Both retired not out, Daniel on 33 and Will on 15.
The Rhinos batted deep in Finley, with all Deni batsmen finishing the night either retired or not out.
Finley transfers Will Harris and Harvey Massina both fell victim to good deliveries and a run out.
The Red Rhinos finished their innings with the figures of 2-92 after 20 overs.
The Rhinos bowlers were accurate and efficient.
Will secured three wickets in convincing fashion, bowling out three of the Finley top order batsmen.
Red Ricon joined in with an accurate delivery to dismiss Finley’s Lachlan Urquhart, who was just settling into his innings.
Charlie Eastman chimed in to knock over the stumps of Finley’s promising fast-bowler Henry Pascoe.
Finley were all bowled out for 34 runs in the 11th over.
Coach Jack Eastman gave the Wired coaching award to Will, for displayed promising skills with both the bat and ball through the match.
The Red Rhinos meet Tocumwal in their first home game at Memorial Park this Friday.
Under-13 White
The Rhinos’ under-13 White side travelled to Berrigan on Thursday night to play their second game of the season against the Berrigan Saints.
Deni won the toss and sent the Saints in to bat, and the three top batsmen put in a fine performance and all retired.
Young Rhino Henry Campion was the first to break their innings.
His bowling was excellent, and he took the first wicket of the game at 1-39.
Tom Marshall took the keeping pads off and, in the 16th over, bowled to the opening batsmen Harvey Swann.
Harvey hit a ball in the air and a spectacular catch was taken by Hunter Campbell.
George Pisasale took the final wicket and the Saints finished their innings at 3-88.
Deni’s Jacob Holschier and Henry Pisasale put on a fabulous opening partnership against a solid bowling attack, and both retired not out.
There was a slight glimmer of hope for the Saints when three wickets fell at 1-42, 2-43 and 3-43, however Hunter, Connor Sampson, George Marshall and Fletcher Smith steadied the ship, all retiring.
Jacob and Henry were sent back into bat and finished the innings off.
Jacob was on fire and enjoyed hitting six fours and a career high of 39 runs off 40 balls.
He was named man of the match by coach Adam Marshall and received the That Pizza award.
The White Rhinos had a great win, finishing with 3-112 to the Berrigan Saints’ 3-88.
