The Bombers took control early and set up a five and six-goal buffer which they protected for the rest of game and built to a 37-point win by the finish of the game — 14.10 to 8.9.
But if Euroa had had a dominant forward or forwards that winning margin would have been a lot less.
Euroa controlled periods of the game with some fine offensive play, but badly lacked reliable targets in attack.
Kyabram defender Jake Parkinson was able to shut down Euroa’s most dangerous forward Jett Trotter, which was a significant contribution in the Bombers’ win.
But Kyabram’s classy on-ballers were the players to set up the win with workmanlike displays.
Skipper Zac Norris and Aidan Robinson changing in the ruck had the better of their rivals and young gun Archie Watt, Morrison medallist Mick Mattingly and the ever-consistent Kaine Herbert were busy all day.
Moama recruit Jack Russell was prominent in the first half and another fresh face in Mitch Gugliotti never shirked an issue.
Key forward Tom Holman also presented to kick three goals and Anthony Depasquale, recruited from VFL side Werribee for the game, kicked one and handed off a couple of others to help set up Kyabram’s early dominance in the game.
Kyabram co-coach Corey Caver was happy to get the first-up win and pleased some tactics employed were carried out well.
‘‘But there are still of things we have to improve on and we’ll be working on that,’’ Carver said frankly.
The Bombers should make it two from two when they travel to meet struggling Tatura this Saturday.
With Werribee having the bye Depasquale is likely to line-up again.
And gun defender Brad Whitford (tendonitis) is not far off returning, but Mooroopna recruit Coby McCarthy (groin) could be still a month away.
Fearless on-baller Josh Dillon has another three games to serve of a four-match suspension.
· Kyabram reserves conceded only one behind to Euroa while kicking 29.21 in a lop-sided clash in which the Bombers dominated all game.
Will Wild had a day out at the goal front with nine goals, but he had plenty of helpers.
He was one of 12 goal-kickers for Kyabram.
The Bombers welcomed back former coach Tom Curnow and Jarryd Pertzel, who both applied scoreboard pressure on the visitors.
Other Kyabram players to show out were Lancaster recruit Sam Vick, who was in everything on the ball, Will Burnett in the ruck and defence, Ben Railton on a wing and Cooper Fawcett in attack.
· Kyabram thirds also opened the season with an impressive win, romping home by 129 points.
The young Bombers were in command from the first bounce and were in control for four quarters.
Isiah Scoble and Hamish Stewart left their imprint on the game with six goals each in dominant and exciting displays.
They finished off the work of busy on-ballers Tyler Norman, Lachlan Carver and Cooper O’Neill who were involved from start to finish.
