The team was scheduled to play the Echuca-Moama Border Raiders on Sunday at Deniliquin Rotary Park.
However, the match was postponed due to the downpour of rain last weekend.
Wanderers head coach Mark Plant said while they had the opportunity to try and get a game in, both sides felt it would be too hard on the players and the ground.
“The game was postponed due to water, as the ground at Rotary Park does not have very good drainage.
“We could have played, but we would have cut up the ground, and it would not have been worth it this early in the season.”
With the Wanderers having a bye this weekend and Moama’s match in limbo, it is hoped the match can be played this weekend instead.
A decision was not known at the time of going to print yesterday.
“The league has a catchup weekend round after the last round and before the finals if we need it, but it would be nice to get it done this weekend,” Plant said.
Plant said the intermittent start has been frustrating, but the team is looking forward to the matches ahead.
“It’s four weeks in and we’ve only played two games, so we’d really like to play and get some momentum.
“It looks like it’ll be a big couple of weeks.
“With Moama, we’ll see where we’re at.
“We then face the two Bendigo La Trobe sides. One is one of the top teams getting goals for fun.
“The other one is having goals kicked on them for fun.
“It’s interesting times and hopefully we get some games to go ahead.”
