The long course country championships were held at the Parap Pool in Darwin from September 26 to October 1.
It was a five-star performance for Luca, who won five gold medals and one silver in the 13-year boys age group.
He also broke three country championship records and had 10 new personal bests at the meet, showing his continued race development.
All three national records were in the same event - the 13-year boys 50m Long Course Breaststroke - with Luca breaking his own record twice.
In his initial swim in the event, he beat the time of 33.35 set last year by Declen Zimmerle.
He then broke his own record with 32.79 in the championship preliminaries, and then 32.05 in the final, where he won gold by 4.26 seconds.
Luca swam in 10 events over four days against competitors from all over Australia, in 50m, 100m and 200m across all stroke and individual medley disciplines.
Luca’s dad Rohan said the country championships in Darwin were a great experience.
He said while already performing well, Luca is determined to continue developing and improving.
“The event was amazing, definitely one of the best we’ve seen. It really was an incredible atmosphere.
“Luca is still loving his swimming and continuing to strive to train harder and get better.”
Luca now begins the long course swimming season, with the next big event the Victorian age long course championships in December.
Luca is also destined for the 2025 nationals in Brisbane in April.
