Thomas as a 10 shot lead in the men’s division after two rounds, while Brunker was in front by six shots in the ladies after two rounds.
Thomas has a two round total of 145, clear of Vince Kelly on 155 with Thomas Bult close behind on 156.
Men’s B-grade leader is Neil Boswell on 169 from Ross Pogonoski 173; C-grade leader is Peter Thompson on 183 by seven shots to Russell Begg and Ron Turner, and D-grade leader is Graeme Rothwell on 203 by a shot to Nick Metcalfe.
Running second in the ladies' championship after two rounds was Pauline Davis.
In B-grade the leader was Jane Armytage on 193 from Ali Ferguson 196; C-grade leader was Ann Bull on 214 from Yvonne Holmes 220, and D-grade leader was junior Rivah Taylor on 225 from Sue Butcher 228.
Last Thursday the ladies played stroke for their monthly medal.
Best score of the day was from B-grade winner Rivah Taylor with nett 68, and B-grade runner-up was Karen Butcher 69.
A-grade winner was Jane Armytage nett 71 and runner-up Pauline Davis 74.
A daily stroke event was also held on Saturday in conjunction with the championships.
A-grade winner was Vicki Brunker nett 76 on countback to Ross Pogonoski; B-grade Noel Swainger nett 69 from runner-up Duncan McQuie 72, and C-grade Wendy Pearce nett 72 from runner-up Russell Begg 73.
In Wednesday’s stableford event the A-grade winner was Thomas Bult on 39 points from runner-up Andrew Brunker 38, B-grade Geoff ‘Zorro’ Bessell 37 points from runner-up Geoff McCallum 36, and C-grade Jane Glowrey 34 on countback from John Metcalfe.
Coming up we have a stroke event and the third round of the men’s championships tomorrow, followed on Sunday by a Fun Day, which is two-person ambrose.
Next Tuesday is 9-hole shoot-out qualifier, Wednesday is stableford and Thursday is 9-hole and 18-hole stableford.
There will also be a stableford event on Good Friday, with the coveted Borella Cup on Easter Saturday.
Another event to put in the calendar is Diggers Day, on Sunday, April 27.
This will be four-person ambrose, $30 per player which includes lunch.
