Food trucks and live entertainment will be provided on the Saturday.
There will be demonstrations on the water and athletes will even stop by the club’s ski school — hosted every Friday night from 5pm during the ski season.
They will share tips and tricks with young students.
Next weekend, 40 athletes will converge on the Edward River to compete against some of the most skilled wakeboarders in the country.
It includes big names Thorry Heaney, junior champion Charli Shore, two-time junior world champion Chloe Mills from Yarrawonga, and two-time world champion Travis Osbourne, also from Yarrawonga.
Recent Moomba competitors, second place national title champ Laney Chadwick (Cobram) and junior women’s champion Darcy Plumridge are also signed up to compete.
The double header event has combined rounds 4 and 5 of the 2021/22 wakeboarding season; due to COVID restrictions, sports and events which attract crowds were up in the air at the end of 2021, as the virus surged across Victoria and New South Wales.
The Wake Muster follows the Mildura Classic which was held in mid-January.
Registrations are invited in 17 categories: Rookie Male, Rookie Female, Straight Air Male, Straight Air Female, Straight Air Under 14 Male, Straight Air Under 14 Female, Inverter Male, Inverter Female, Advanced Male, Advanced Female, Mobe Male, Mobe Female, Open Male, Open Female, Shred (18+) Male, Shred (18+) Female and Adaptive.
The sprawling lawns adjacent the Deniliquin Boat Club offer an elevated view of all the action, or you could be lucky to get a place on the club’s deck overlooking the Edward River.
Clubhouse facilities include a licensed bar, toilets and even a swimming pool.
Food trucks and live entertainment will also be provided as part of this free event.
The Wakeboard Victoria competition is not the only event the Deniliquin Boat Club will host this summer.
All Divisions are ability-based competitions, as per the Wakeboard Australia guidelines for state-based season events (not including State Titles).
Competitors of all ages will show off their skills, including ‘‘once in a generation’’ nine year-old talent Parka Edwards from Langwarrin.
Despite a lower turn-out than last year’s record breaking competitor count, the 40 athletes taking to the water will be an impressive sight for summer spectators.
‘‘We as an organisation provide a sizable financial contribution to regional areas where events are held as well as support promoting regional areas for tourism,’’ Wakeboard Victoria’s Wade Jeffreys said.
He hopes the annual event will put Deniliquin on the map as a prime place to visit for water sports.
The competitor with the most points awarded over the two days of competition will be crowned the Deni Wake Muster Champion for the division they have competed in.
The muster annually delights crowds, who can watch from the Deniliquin Boat Club on Riverview Dr.
The muster is part of the Melbourne City Toyota Summer Series, through Wakeboard Victoria.
There were 75 competitors and at least 300 spectators when Deni last hosted a Wakeboard Victoria competition round, in January 2020.
Aside from the two big summer events, the Boat Club is open to members and non-members every Friday night during ski season.
It kicks off at 5pm, with food and beverages available, on what is often touted to be the ‘best spot on the river’.
