Almost 140 kids played each week, and it is so satisfying to see the kids enjoying the great game of tennis.
However, this tennis program would not be possible without the huge support from our eager parent helpers.
The program runs amazingly well, so new parents can slot in seamlessly.
We have had our usual helpers this year but plenty of new faces, which is fantastic to see.
A big shout-out to our red ball kid group helpers, who can be quite challenging at times.
I’d especially like to thank Brit Murphy, Mick Farley, Josh Leech, and George Grimwade for the tireless efforts with our beginners and many other parents who assist.
The orange ball parent helpers that are made up of Matt Tubb, Jim MacDonald, Brad Aitken and Jack Eastman.
A huge thank you to Emily Leech who took on the canteen role this year and has done an amazing job, ably assisted by Dom Jansen who has been a stalwart helping the junior tennis for years.
Also, I must mention that we were blown away by all our sponsors this year which enabled us to offer prizes and host Tubby’s ice-cream van for the kids to enjoy.
So thanks CWS, Nutrien Ag, JC Earthworks, Wyoming, Deni Travel Centre, Physio Fit, East Loddon Merino Stud, Fellows Bulk, Justin Zanatta Contracting, Grimwade Family, Starritt Family Howard Family and Cotton Tale Agronomics.
Saturday was the section one grand final between CWS, who finished a clear first, and second placed JC Earthworks.
After some close sets in the doubles, CWS were eventually too strong in the singles and won the grand final match, 11 sets to 5.
Henry Campion, Georgie Barnes and Harriet Maher led their team to victory by winning all of their three sets.
Congratulations to team CWS - Henry Pisasale, Andrew Frost, Annabelle Hanns, Henry Campion, Lenny Hanns, Georgie Barnes, Ollie Dellwo and Harriet Maher.
Also, a big congratulations to Henry Pisasale who also won the coveted three set award, playing as the number one player for his team.
We will resume tennis on February 15.
Have a merry Christmas and thanks again to all who support our wonderful club.
