The Deniliquin Rovers fourths went into Saturday’s preliminary final as underdogs, playing the previously undefeated Tungamah at Rennie, and came home winners.

He was honest in saying nobody expected they would win, but asked that each player gave it 100 per cent ... and they did.
The Rovers started strongly with forward pressure, some great passages of play and teamwork enabling them to take the lead at quarter time.
The young Rovers kept the pressure and tackling intensity which lasted the entire game, highlighted by a four goals to nil in the third quarter.
Tungamah fought back in the last quarter, but inaccurate kicking cost them on the scoreboard.
Rovers went on to win by 31 points and into the grand final.
It was an amazing team effort with everyone contributing throughout the entire four quarters, in front of a large crowd of players, parents and supporters who made the trip to Rennie.
Final score: Deni Rovers 9.7-61 def Tungamah 3.12-30.
