It was a fantastic victory for A-grade in a tightly contested game that will go a long way to prepare both teams for finals netball.
Katunga started the game with great intensity, punishing every loose pass and going into the first break with a seven point lead.
The Rovers girls regrouped and started the second term with renewed drive and determination.
Abbey Wills’ accuracy in goals lifted the team and they began to claw back the deficit.
Hazel Glowrey took to the court in the second half and largely nullified the devastating impact of Rhani Hendy, Katunga’s WA, allowing Rovers to continue to reduce the Swan’s lead.
The final quarter started with Rovers trailing by three goals.
The defensive team of Chrissy Hurst and Elena Mulham were tireless, hassling the skilled Katunga shooters and creating turnovers.
Hard work, persistence, skill and belief in their teammates saw the Rovers girls finally gain the lead in the last few minutes of the game and take a well-deserved win by two points.
Despite the slow start, these girls fought hard all game, winning the next three quarters.

Katunga are always a tough and determined opponent to play, and Saturday was no exception.
Every player that took the court pushed themselves until the final whistle.
The score changed hands often for the first three quarters, and it was the strong start to the final quarter from the Rovers that saw them take the lead and run the game out.

From the first pass this game was fast and physical, with Katunga and Rovers both chasing top spot on the ladder and determined to win.
Katunga came out strong with four unanswered goals, unsettling the Rovers who tried hard to find their rhythm and gain some momentum.
Deni worked hard to maintain possession but struggled with the pace and pressure of the game.
With encouragement and strong defensive play from Catie Lewis and Carissa Holmberg the team regrouped, showing their determination, winning the final quarter and not going down without a fight.

Deni and Katunga were both determined to cement their place on top of the ladder.
The first half saw the teams go head to head, fighting for every pass, trying to take control and assert their dominance on the court.
Ellissa Boyer and Nikita Doyle worked hard to put pressure on through the midcourt as Rovers fought hard to control the play leading into half-time.
Both teams came out strong and determined in the final half.
Kelly Thorpe and Alicia Collisson worked well in defence, challenging Katanga at every opportunity.
The game was fast and the pressure intense.
Lauren Butcher’s accuracy in goals spurred the Rovers to level the score, only going down by one in the final minutes.

Rovers were expecting a tough contest against the Swans, and the game did not disappoint.
A few early errors by the Rovers saw Katunga take advantage and runaway with an early lead, which they were able to maintain for the duration of the game.
Reagan Behsman worked relentlessly in GK with her defensive pressure, forcing many turnovers.

The Deni Rovers played an incredible game of netball, with an impressive win.
The team really came together with their accurate shooting, great drives and intercepts, and strong defence.
The girls showed great skills throughout the match.

The Rovers’ defence was outstanding this week. Nina Glowrey, Zoe Basset and Eva Maher are growing in strength.
Georgia Danckert provided power and speed through the midcourt with many intercepts.
Lilly Boyer, Ava Braybon, Amelie Bulmer and Lara Horne combined well to create smooth passages of play.

The girls played a fantastic game against Katunga.
Oakley Morrison made her debut and played brilliantly.
All the hard work at training was showcased.
Isabella Goodear was fantastic in defence getting repeated intercepts.
Madi Danckert and Lexi Maher were shooting goals with pinpoint accuracy, making it look effortless.
