Rovers A-grade continued their winning way in a very physical encounter against Yarroweyah this week. From the get-go, the Hoppers took it up to the girls, confusing the space and unsettling the normally unflappable A-grade. To their credit, Rovers soon found their groove and started to pull away on the scoreboard. Chloe Brown was a stand-out, despite some close attention from her Yarroweyah opponents. She combined with Carissa Bulmer and Abbey Wills to keep the goals flowing. They were supported by Gabby Barlow and Sienna Jenkins, who put in her best performance for the season so far. Chrissy Hurst is truly inspirational, leading the tight defensive unit with Chloe Way and Elena Mulham. They constantly created turnovers from seemingly nothing, frustrating the Yarroweyah attackers. Hazel Glowrey took to the court in the final quarter, providing extra drive in the midcourt. With another bye next week, we look forward to meeting Berrigan for our next encounter.
Awards: Club Award – Chloe Brown; Timbrr Firewood – Chrissy Hurst; The Crossing Café - Sienna Jenkins.

A strong start from the entire team, implementing all the training to date, saw the team go into the first break with a bigger lead than expected. In the second quarter Yarroweyah fought back but consistency by Rovers provided another strong quarter. With every player keen to continue lifting the intensity the last half saw less errors and strong talk directing all the techniques that have been drilled on Thursday. Every player did their role and then some, and it was difficult to just select three awardees when all seven could have received one.

After the under-15s’ first loss for the season last week, the girls had a point to prove. A dominant first quarter set the standard for the game. It was a full team contribution, accurate shooting, quick transitions in the midcourt and defenders not giving an inch, resulting in a strong win.
