The pair were elected at the club’s annual general meeting on Wednesday, November 27, with a packed house of nearly 50 people.
After eight years in two stints as president, Graham Hosier stood down as president but will remain on the board.
With new senior coaches for both the senior football and A grade netball, Daryn Creswell and Sally Hunter, as well as the new Roos’ female football teams on board, (previously the Murray Felines), the club has stepped into a new era of leadership and is embracing the new opportunities.
Emma Forrest was appointed as secretary and Brendan Eyers as treasurer.
All four board members filling executive roles have previous experience in these roles, not only with the Roos’ senior club but also with the junior club and other sporting groups in Corowa.
Rowena is stepping out of the joint secretary/treasurer roles after seven years and is looking forward to passing the baton onto Brendan and Emma, who are both very skilled and are currently serving on the Roos’ board.
Beau Longmire having previously been part of the senior club board as well junior club president, is also looking forward to leading the club together with Rowena as the Roos continue to grow and progress to a sustainable and welcoming community club.
New to the board is Kylie Greig (Netball), Mathew Andison (Roos Female Football), Paddy Minogue and Rod Campbell. Returning board members are Dean Druce, Shaun Whitechurch, Graham Hosier and John Elmore.
The club is already putting together smaller working groups to ensure smooth running of the club with subcommittees for events and fundraising and also merchandise well underway.
There are plenty more opportunities to be involved with the Roos in 2025.
The footballers & netballers will be training this Wednesday, December 4 with a BBQ after training.
