The Riverina boys AFL team won 6/6 matches to take the title of NSW champions in Batemans Bay.
Rocky is currently in grade five at DNPS.
He kicked three important goals for his team during the three day tournament.
“He was also the only year five boy on the team and hope’s to return next year,” mum Chloe Sztejman said.
According to Jordan Swann, team captain from Berrigan Public School, the win would not have been possible without the huge effort from the 2022 team.
“Their third place finish (up from ninth in 2021) meant that this year’s side started in the top pool,” he said.
Former Finley local, Bob Bevan, after whom the state winning cup is named, was on hand to present the trophy to the winning team.
Bob has a long history of coaching young footballers in the area and was very excited the cup was coming back to the Riverina where it belongs, he said.
Three other local boys - Angus Henderson, Ari Strongman and Ollie Murray - played for the Polding team (made up of Catholic school students) and took bronze in the competition out of 13 teams.
