For round eight, the Rhinos are scheduled to host Tocumwal for the second time this season.
This time it’s a two-day game to be played over this Saturday and next at Memorial Park, weather permitting.
The Rhinos are sitting third on the ladder with five one-day wins, one loss and one no-result, one win ahead of Katamatite in fourth place.
Tocumwal sit in fifth after their 15-run win over Finley last week away from home, however they are three and a half wins behind the Rhinos tied with Berrigan and Barooga on two wins after seven games.
The two-day matches present an opportunity for teams to gain extra ground with a win or even an two-innings outright win.
In the corresponding two-day match last season between the two teams in Tocumwal, the Rhinos achieved a 97-run first innings win.
Tocumwal won the toss and elected to bowl first, with the Rhinos finishing at 2-240 declared after 72 overs with Rhinos young star Charlie Paton top scoring with 107 not out at number three and Harry Hillier also getting a half-century, caught out for 59.
The Rhinos then bowled out Tocumwal for 143 in the 61st over with Boddie Arthur, Prem Muppiddi and Jake Herberte the main wicket-takers with three wickets each.
Josh Wraight top-scored for Tocumwal with 29 while Pete Harrison made 26.
The Rhinos then got a chance to bat again finishing the game with 5-116 off 27 overs with Dean Herberte the top scorer with 26 not out.
Under-17s
In the under-17s two-dayers, Barooga won the toss and electing to bat and finished 9-153 after their 40 overs against Nathalia at Nathalia.
Tocumwal also won the toss deciding to bat making 9-116 after their 40 overs away against Cobram.
While the Rhinos don’t have a team in this competition there are Rhinos players competing in the age-group.
Under-15s
The under-15s Rhinos continue their two day match against Tocumwal at Memorial Park from 8.30am Saturday.
The Rhinos lost the toss and were put in to bat, scoring 65 all out in their first innings.
Tocumwal resume batting tomorrow, having reached 3-63 after 16 overs on day one.
Under-13s
In the under-13s Rhinos White were scheduled to play yesterday afternoon against Finley at Memorial Park, currently sitting in third place on the ladder with three wins and two losses after five games.
Meanwhile the undefeated Rhinos Red play this afternoon against Katamatite in Finley this afternoon at 5pm heading into round six.
