While she is most publicly known as a Ram, Rhiannon also shares her love of sport with the students at Deniliquin North Public School, where she is a teacher.
This mentoring role is part of the reason why Rhiannon was the recipient of Edward River Council’s Sports Award at yesterday’s Australia Day ceremony.
The award recognises a resident who has demonstrated an outstanding record of achievement in sport and has made a significant contribution to the growth, development and/or increased participation of their sport within the Edward River region.
Rhiannon is the playing coach for Deniliquin Rams A-grade netball.
“Rhiannon’s overall composure, commitment, leadership, and mentorship to so many junior netballers and students ensures she is a very worthy winner of the sports award,” her nomination read.
“Her contribution to the Deniliquin Rams and North School has been widely and deservedly lauded.”
In 2022 alone, Rhinannon’s accomplishments on the netball courts included a Murray League Premiership and selection in the Murray League’s Netball Victoria Origin Association Championship open team.
At the Rams presentation evening she was named joint runner-up A-grade best and fairest with Annie Harvey and leading goal shooter.
