Who would know it is almost winter after the blistering heat.
The A Grade knew it was going to be a tough gig and they would have to play the long game making sure they held possession and continued to put pressure over every ball.
16 year old Mabel stepped up into A grade and stood strong against a very tall GK.
It was a pleasure to watch Mabel’s game and confidence grow over the four quarters. Laynee Rhodes had a day out getting her mitts to lots of balls and hunting down anything she could.
Co-captains Laynee and Brooke McDougall both showed why they are leaders with continual encouragement and direction around the court.
Jenika Parker was an asset to the side, being put in a position out of the ordinary and not only giving it her all, but gaining rebounds, intercepts and all round just being a menace to her attackers.
Was a tough game and all nine girls gave it their all and that’s all you can ask for. Well done team.
Awards: RNC Incentive- Jennika Parker and Laynee Rhodes, Mulwala Bakery- Brooke McDougall, Yarrawonga Hotel- Mabel Cope, One Zach- Demi Rhodes.

Picola weren’t the only thing the Hoppers battled on the court, the heat was something else.
The girls started off strong, Hayley stepped on the court for her 50th game and like always played til the last whistle blew.
The second quarter saw Lex go down with a knee injury bringing debutant Ella out to show why she should be out there in the B Grade and that’s just what she did.
Leaving nothing in the tank, the girls fought til the last whistle.
Starting the season off 2-0. Crossing fingers for good news and a speedy recovery Lex.
Awards: RNC Incentive- Lucy Bassett, Mulwala Bakery- Ella Lewis, Club Mulwala- Haylee Wilson and Showcase Jewellers- Jess Barton.

Heading into round two, the girls had a few challenges to navigate.
Captain Georgia was sidelined with an injury from training, and with temperatures expected to reach 30 degrees, rolling subs were going to be essential.
From the first whistle, the team gave it their all.
Defenders Georgie and Tess were relentless while in the mid-court, Georgia, Nada, and Ella rotated effectively, bringing fresh energy and drive throughout the match.
Up front, Erin, Tegan, and Bri made the most of every opportunity in the goal circle, while Melinda, stepping up from C Res, was a fantastic addition.
Awards: Yarrawonga Bakery- Tess Bassett, North East Campers- Georgina Thomas, Wingate’s Sports- Erin Dowling, Skin, Ski and Surf- Nada Nolen.

Hot hot hot! And the scribe is not just talking about the C Res lasses. Saturday's game against Piccola was hotter than Edo Speedos' dance moves in the clubrooms.
Short a couple of players, the girls knew they had to load up on water, Powerade and a half effort warmup to get through this one.
With Coach Gupp away, old C Res legend Teags stepped into her shoes and shared her priceless wisdom.
In goals superstar Meg and a debutant young gun Charlotte.
Fan fav Shezza "ricky d's" McBurnie was back in the goal circle this week. Mid court was built up with co-cap Edos, Justine, Dani and Georgia who ran around as if it wasn't 30 degrees.
Even co-cap Burkedogga had a five minute run in centre just for a change.
In defence Tilly was stronger than the UV index taking best on for the day.
Justine popped into GK where she will be spending more time.
The girls were neck and neck majority of the game, unfortunately last quarter got the better of the Hoppers and they went down by a measley Seven goals.
Awards: Mulwala Bakery- Charlotte Burrows, Yarrawonga Hotel- Tilly Bruce, Miss Dolly- Justine Wilson, Skin Ski & Surf- Danielle Dalrymple.

With a few last minute changes to this weeks line up due to illness, the girls were ready and raring to go.
Versatility on the court again allowed for fresh feet in every position and a range of rolling sub changes made to keep Picola on their toes.
Samantha Knight was a show stopper in the game with defencive pressure that led to multiple intercepts while Indi Wheeler and Zoe Freestone both have been working hard at training and taking on feedback, playing 1:1 defencively and had strong drives into attack with precision passing.
Olivia Lewis was another stand out in defence with Liv working on moving her feet and rebound space which was present constantly throughout the game.
A fantastic final score for the girls in their second game.
Awards: Jaycee's- Samantha Knight, Rhodes Family- Indi Wheeler, Housemade Food & Coffee- Zoe Freestone, Mulwala Bakery- Olivia Lewis.

Picola came out strong and pushed the Hopper girls to the limits. With the heat beaming on them, they brought it back to basics with lots of talk and strong drives.
All the girls supported one another and backed each other up for those loose balls.
The Hoppers lost a little bit of momentum in the third quarter with the heat being too much for the girls resulting in a 14-14 score at the end of the third quarter.
The girls reset and went out to show Picola what they are made of.
With two quick goals, that is all they needed to win the game.
Awards: Ricky D's- Cydee Adams, Rhodes Family- Maisie Cope, Lewis Fencing- Lily Lewis, Jacyee's- Kate Giblett.

It was the Hoppers first home game and it was a hot one. The Hoppers took on the game well and adjusted to the heat as best they could.
Defence was strong and continued to get intercepts throughout the defencive end while the goalies worked hard putting up goals and going for rebounds.
The Hoppers utilised a few rolling subs to keep some fresh legs through the centre.
Great start to the season and the Hoppers are looking forward to seeing the growth and improvements this season brings for the girls.

All the girls showed great listening skills, patience and enthusiasm. They gave it their best and didn’t give up at all.
They all encouraged one another, played as a team and put what they’ve been practicing on Thursday night training into play.
