The club’s AGM will be at its racecourse clubrooms from 11am on Sunday, November 24.
It has been a topsy turvy year for the Racing Club, with a very successful Anzac Day meeting, but then disappointment when the Deniliquin Cup meeting in October was abandoned after heavy rain.
A program of ongoing improvements to the track and surrounds has continued, with the latest being the installation of an additional 1000 metres of running rail to further improve race safety.
New president Magnus Aitken said he anticipates the newly elected 2025 committee will continue the efforts conducted over the past few years to continually improve local racing facilities for participants and patrons.
He said the club would like to get some fresh faces on the committee and would welcome anyone with an interest in racing at the meeting, including younger racing enthusiasts who he described as “the future of horse racing in the region”.
The club is also seeking people who are prepared to assist with race day entertainment and marquee coordination, which involves arranging the entertainment and liaising with patrons to organise marquees on race days.
Aitken recently took the reins as club president, taking over from Greg Danckert.
“I would like to thank Greg for his contribution to the club in this role. We are pleased he will continue being involved, in particular helping with track maintenance.”
He also thanked the many businesses that support the club, which could not remain viable without their contributions.
“We rely heavily on volunteers and sponsorship to continue hosting our two meetings a year, on Anzac Day and the big Everest and Caulfield Cup day. These are now well established on the local racing calendar and our aim is to continue building to make each day bigger and better.
“However, a lot of work is required to stage each race day, so I would welcome anyone interested in racing at the annual meeting who is prepared to help in any way,” Aitken said.
The meeting will elect office bearers and a committee for the 2025 racing year. It will be followed by drinks and light refreshments.
