After a recent break-in and theft of a large quantity of the club’s equipment for the come-and-try days, North Eastern Archers, a local, self-funded, not-for-profit target archery club, is regrouping.
The club relies heavily on the community come-and-try sessions and assistance from members to help the club grow.
The archers had planned on upgrading their facilities, but have had to put that on hold as they reallocated funds to replace stolen equipment.
And Victoria’s new container deposit scheme might just be their saving grace.
North Eastern Archers president Dean Nabble said every small donation was appreciated.
“The funds raised from the container deposit scheme will go a long way in helping us get back on track,” Nabble said.
“People can easily donate to our club via the container deposit scheme in a number of ways.
“You can scan the barcode on our Facebook page, look us up as a donation partner on the CDS VIC North App, or simply tell the staff that you wish to donate to North Eastern Archers.
“Every dollar counts and goes a long way in helping our club grow.”
If you’re keen to try archery or fancy yourself as a budding Robin Hood, you can also support the club by attending the club’s come-and-try sessions that are scheduled to recommence in early February 2024.
In the meantime, keep an eye on the North Eastern Archers Facebook page for updates.
