It was a pleasure and delight to welcome both new and former families on the night.
All the kids were eager and excited, waiting with anticipation for their turn to put on the skis.
The weather was slightly on the cooler side and conditions were quite choppy due to the breeze, but it did not stop skiers from braving the water and having a go.
Leigh Holmberg and his observer Jack Hussey made the beginners feel at ease and safe on Rolco.
The beginner boats can be challenging for our newcomers and volunteers, but Holmberg is always ready and willing for any challenge with his wealth of experience, tolerance and easy going nature.
Andrew McBurnie and Debbie Jennings taught the more experienced kids and adults in the Gilflite boat. It was wonderful to see them progress in their skills.
Canteen awards were given to new members William Kirby and Harvey Shevels.
This was the first time William and Harvey had experienced water skiing.
They practised on the sea horse and boom bar to get a feel for the water, and to boost their confidence.
We admire you both for your determination and bravery in trying a new sport.
Harvey’s mum Chantelle Shevels commented, “we live near the river and feel that familiarisation of the river and water safety is very important for our children.”
We look forward to seeing the children and adults progress throughout the season, and most importantly have fun.
Everyone who decides to take part in ski school must be a member of the Deniliquin Boat Club.
