Not on council this term, Weyrich offered his services as Mathoura Football Netball Club president.
He was elected to the key role last week, taking over from tireless past president Mel Banks.
Weyrich said it's a return to the club for him.
“I hadn’t been involved with the club for 30 years,” he said.
“It came out of left field really.
“I was asked to come and chair the AGM and walked out as president.”
Supporting Weyrich in his role of president will be junior vice president Blake Keech, a long-time servant of the club, coach and local bloke who will continue at the helm for the reserves in 2025.
The secretary for the club will be Blaize Hearn, who also co-coaches the under-17s netball side.
Ian Keech will fill the role of treasurer for the Timbercutters.
General committee members will include Phoebe Keech, Dani Richardson, Ed Connally, Niccolai Henery, Alyssa Clark, Jarrod Thomas and James Eddy.
The club will be hoping that the appointment of these people to the major roles and general committee will give them the right guidance and leadership for the 2025 season.
One of the key areas Weyrich outlined for the growth of the club is the players, which he said was not lost on previous committees.
“It is imperative that the community of Mathoura has the football club, somewhere to be and feel a part of something,” he said.
“It wouldn’t matter where I lived, I have always said that I would be parochial about that town.”
“I’d like to thank the previous committee, and Mel Banks for the fantastic job they did.
The Timbercutters are still seeking a sponsorship adviser and social committee members.
Anyone interested in helping the committee, or joining the club as a player in 2025, is invited to speak to a committee member or email mathourafnc@gmail.com.
