The club is offering a full membership for as little as $25.
This is available to all new bowlers to the club, whether you have experience or not.
Membership will include a new pennant shirt (if playing pennant), affiliation fees, clearance fees, access to coaching, daily use of greens, members drink prices and other special membership privileges.
Deni RSL Bowling Club has introduced a junior program, called the Edward River Junior Lawn Bowls Academy (ERJLBA), throughout the primary schools and high school.
All students under the age of 18 who wish to try their hand at lawn bowls and continue in the program for 12 months or more will be given a free junior club membership.
To allow them to hone their skills they will be expected to attend regular training programs, where they will be able to use club bowls at no expense.
As they progress to the level of playing club representative competition, they will also be given free club uniform.
It is the aim of the ERJLBA to have schools introduce lawn bowls to their sports curriculum and also encourage students to participate in school lawn bowls competitions, which operate in both NSW and Victoria.
Bowlers come together three days per week for social bowls. Each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday (except during pennant), names must be in by 12.30pm with competition starting at 1pm.
Bowls Gr8 for Brains is a program that has been supported by the club for a couple of years. While this program is currently on hold during the colder months, the club has plans to further develop a Bowls Gr8 for Brains Expansion in conjunction with Deniliquin Mental Health Awareness Group (Deni MHAG), with further detail to be announced shortly.
Lawn bowls is a sport that can be played over many formats and, therefore, be adapted to most people dependant on their circumstances. The greens are open daily to all members.
You may just wish to come down and have a roll on your own. If your preference is social bowls, that can be played three times per week and if you love the more serious competition, then pennant runs for around five months each year.
This year sees our club entering a mid-week pennant team (played on Friday) for the first time in over 15 years and we will be entering three divisions in the Saturday Pennant.
If you think you would like to give the game a try, or if you have been a bowler at another club and would like a change of environment, give the club a call. President Tony Tonta (0418 817 744) and secretary Wayne Bradley (0428 811 603) are waiting for your call, so why not come along on this exciting journey.
