Continuing that tradition, it recently announced that six of its netballers have been selected for the Northern Region's Talent Academy trial for2025.
Lily Boyer, Meg Meharry and Maggie Shields have all been added to the trials list for next season's Northern Regions Talent Academy under-15s.
The announcement follows an earlier announcement that Phoebe Newman, Brydey Maher and Sienna Elphick would trial for the under-17s.
“The Netball Victoria Talent Academy program is a development opportunity for talented athletes to develop in three key components; technical and tactical development, athlete wellbeing and physical preparation,” Netball Victoria says.
“The program aims to assist players throughout Victoria to reach their potential, provide an avenue towards state and national representation, and provide essential education that is relevant to netball.”
Meg Meharry (back), who also plays for Deni Rovers, will try out for the under-15s.
If successful at the trials, the netballers will be be included in the 25 to 35 member squads involved in the academy.
The chosen players for the academy will work on key skills in preparation during the five-month period.
Upon the conclusion of the five-month period, the girls will take part in a regions-based tournament against other talent identified players, from different areas.
The tournament is a stepping stone onto the path to state representation.
“We wish Lilly, Meg, Maggie, Phoebe, Brydey and Sienna all the very best as they embark on this exciting netball journey,” DNA said.
“May success accompany them every step of the way.
“We are all super proud of each and every one of you.”
