A hot and balmy evening greeted the players for the spring 2023 grand final Wednesday last week.

Mitre 10 went into the match as slight favourites, however after the first round Deni Newsagency was leading six sets to three.
After the second round Mitre 10 squared the ledger, and the scores were nine sets all.
So heading out for the third and final round, things were tense.
In a close final round, Mitre 10 prevailed.
The team won the round five sets to four, for an overall victory of 14 sets to 13.
Three set winners for Mitre 10 were Wade Hilton and Kate Paton, whilst three set winners for Deni Newsagency were Ben Littmann and Jarryd Lowry.
Lucy Horne won the best average for women, with a remarkable average of 17.7 out of 18 games.
The averages award for men was won by Max Ferguson with 16.8. Max was also best junior.
Helen Glover won best club woman, primarily for her efforts in recruiting new players, and general help around the club.
The committee would like to thank Barb Lyne for compiling the statistics, and Paul Ferguson for assisting on a Wednesday night.
The 2024 autumn competition commences on February 7.
