Kieran Collins, Craig Manning and father-and-daughter combination Ross and Rivah Taylor will be aiming to raise as much money as they can to benefit the Cancer Council.
Impressively, they already have almost $2,000 for this worthy cause.
The Longest Day is an endurance golf event that sees participants play a set number of holes on their chosen course from dusk until dawn.
Golfers can choose from three gruelling challenges: 36 holes (double course), 54 holes (triple course), or the ultimate 72-hole marathon (quadruple course).
Ross said they are ready for the challenge, and that preparation would be key in achieving the marathon round.
“We just try and take it one shot and one step at a time - drink plenty of water, use plenty of sunscreen and make sure the beers are very cold when we finish,” he said.
Whichever challenge you choose, you will be given 12 hours to complete the selected number of holes.
In previous years, the 72 hole challenge has taken some participants upwards of 14 hours.
“The challenge is tough mentally, trying to get through 72 holes of golf in the heat, and physically walking about 30km for the day isn't an easy feat either,” Ross said.
While the event tests golfers' endurance and skill, the true driving force is the participants' commitment to raising vital funds for the Cancer Council's life-saving work.
The team of four are participating under the team name ‘Good, Bad, Ugly Golf’, and are taking donations online at https://www.longestday.org.au/fundraisers/goodbaduglygolf.
