Ski School coordinator Aileen Hayes said it’s time to dust off the skis, get into the water, and experience the adrenaline buzz of water skiing.
“The community of Deniliquin is privileged to have the picturesque Edward River on our doorstep, a perfect setting for the Deniliquin Boat’s ski school.
“Ski school runs weekly Fridays, starting from 5pm until the edge of dark.
“All equipment is provided, and our friendly and experienced volunteers will make you feel safe and at ease, whilst teaching you the skills of water skiing.
“There is absolutely no age barrier, and anyone from the ages of 4 to 80 plus years can enjoy the wonders of water skiing.”
Hayes said the specialized equipment used can help beginner and experienced skiers.
“For the beginners, the seahorse or boom bar is fitted to beginner boat ROLCO, giving the skier a sense of security as the observer is next to them.
“For the more experienced skier, GILFLITE is our intermediate level boat.
“Our volunteers will be able to teach skiers new skills and improve your style of skiing.”
Everyone who decides to take part in ski school must be a member of the Deniliquin Boat Club.
You can buy your membership online at www.deniboatclub.com. Once signed up, you can book a suitable time slot for ski school through the website.
Hayes said a special opening night celebration will be hosted this Friday.
“The bar will be open, hot food will be available from the canteen and raffle tickets will be on sale for a chance to win a meat tray.
“We look forward to having a successful and exciting season and the club would like to thank Gary Coote from Pestpro Management for recently spraying the boat shed, parklets and club rooms for spiders, this is very much appreciated.”
Other events coming up this season at the Boat Club include the Murray to Moyne Fundraising night on November 29, with music by Jaymie Clancy, the Wakeboard Victoria Competitions on December 7-8 and February 15-16, and Victorian Barefoot 'come and try' coaching days on January 4 and 5, and March 8 and 10.
