Mitre 10 were without their three and four men, but would have still expected to win a close match against the Peppin Planners mob.
Mitre 10 got off to a flyer winning five of the six sets in the first round - round one to Mitre 10.
Peppin started a rescue comeback in the second round of matches and repaired a bit of the early damage, winning round two with four sets to two. But they were still well behind, seven sets to five.
The third round was a real turnaround with Peppin cleaning up their deficit and winning the third set, six sets to one, and winning the whole match 11 sets and 98 games to eight sets 81 games. A fabulous comeback win.
The five and six men for Peppin lead the way with Ric Bond and Jacob Bulmer winning their three sets.
Georgia Booth, playing for Mitre 10, was a three set winner in an all Deni High School contest, being drawn against fellow teacher Pauline MacLeod.
Another notable performance was from Jon Gatacre who hobbled around the courts for most of his three sets with a pulled calf muscle, but still managed a two set win against arch rival John Henderson.
The match between Deni Newsagency and legal Eagles didn’t go to plan for Newsagency.
Eagles won all three rounds and won the evening 12 sets 95 games to Newsagency seven sets 74 games.
Eagles established a lead from the get go, winning the first round four sets to two and the same scoreline in the second set.
An all round fine performance from Legal Eagles with a spread of three sets winners, led by Kate Grierson, Rich Larcombe and Mick Farley each winning their three sets.
