The two teams battling it out were Murray Darling Flights and JC Earthworks.
Murray Darling Flights were the eventual winners.
The team comprised James Gatacre, Jack McGrillen, Archie McDonald, Milly Hanmer, Andrew Frost and Annabelle Hanns.
The team had a great year and were too strong on the day for the JC Earthworks team.
The coveted three set award was taken out by Enzo Sztejman, who didn’t drop a set all year.
Deniliquin Junior Lawn Tennis Club president Jon Gatacre said it was great to have Deniliquin Lawn Tennis Club president Nick Metcalfe to present the medals on the day.
“Thank you to Nick for giving up his time to give back to the junior players coming through to the adult tennis competition, Gatacre said.
“We also enjoyed the annual speech from Angus Rae on behalf of the kids, which has become some sort of tradition. Well done, Angus.
“It has been great to see so many kids coming through the system and now competing in section one.
“It shows us and the coaches that what we have been doing for so many years is working and is satisfying to everyone involved.
“The parents can see the improvement and the kids are enjoying the game of tennis so much more when they themselves are improving.”
Gatacre said a dedicated team of volunteers is involved in junior tennis each week, particularly parents.
“Coaching 120-130 kids would be impossible without so much parental support,” he said.
“Thank you to the main helpers in the red ball group - Jack Eastman, Matt Tubb, Gabrielle Jansen, Mick Farley and to Rob Wettenhall, Chris Brown, Peter Rae, Jim MacDonald and Nick Bliss in orange and green ball group.
“Nathan Moore has also been instrumental in the improvement across the whole club and goes to show how important having a coach is to a local tennis club,” he said.
“Thank you also to Victoria Gatacre and Dom Jansen for organising the canteen roster and running a successful canteen all year.
“We have one more week for the red, orange and green kids, so a reminder to everyone in those groups to turn up on Saturday.”
