The Deniliquin Little Athletics Club will be looking eagerly toward the Coles Region Championship, hosted by the Eastern Riverina Zone, on February 8 and 9.
The meet will be held at the Griffith Regional Athletics Centre.
The next level after this meeting will be the Little Athletics state championships.
Competing at Griffith will be Millicent Hall, Maxi and Levi Robson and Gabrielle Jansen.
They have each qualified based on their results at the carnival hosted in Deniliquin in November.
Other than in the eight year-old age group which does not progress past regionals, athletes must place in the top two of their event to qualify for the state championship.
They will compete against others placing in the top two from other zones.
The remaining eight places in each event will be filled from the next best results from athletes across the state.
Millicent and Maxi are both competing in the eight year-old age group.
They will both compete in the girls’ eight years 100m and 200m preliminaries.
Millicent will also compete in the girls’ eight years 400m and 700m pack start races.
Maxi will also compete in the girls’ eight years 60m hurdle preliminary final and the 70m preliminary final.
Levi will compete in the boys’ nine years 400m, 800m, high jump and long jump.
Gabrielle will be competing in the girls’ under-15s events including the 100m preliminary final, the javelin throw, discus, shot put and triple jump.
