Featuring the 2024 White Lion Hotel Motel Deniliquin Cup, it coincides with a huge day on the national racing calendar, with the $20 million The Everest meeting at Royal Randwick, as well as Caulfield Cup Day in Melbourne.
The weather conditions should be ideal not only for racing, but also the host of on-field entertainment, including the popular Fashions on the Field.
The $16,000 White Lion Hotel Motel Deniliquin Cup will be complemented by five other races, and if recent local meetings are any indication, there will be strong fields and exciting racing.
For the punter full TAB and bookmaker facilities will be available for local and metropolitan races, and of course there will be food and refreshments, including bar facilities.
A wide range of categories will be judged in Fashions on the Field, with lots of great prizes on offer. Categories include: Junior Boy and Girl 0-12 years; Senior Boy and Girl 13-17 years; Millinery; Lady of the Day; Contemporary Lady of the Day; Gentleman of the Day; and Couple of the Day.
There will also be live musical entertainment provided by the cover-band Fallout, featuring Bek Mills and Anthony Reeves.
The track and surrounds are in excellent condition, with the club recently able to obtain about 1,000 metres of running rail, which is being installed to further improve race safety.
Racegoers can enjoy the meeting from numerous public vantage points, or take advantage of the Peppercorn Party Enclosure, for which tickets are selling fast, with a limited number still available on Eventbrite, so don’t miss out. Private marquee and business sponsorship packages are also available.
A courtesy bus will again operate from designated pick-up and drop-off points around town, with a timetable to be published on the club’s Facebook page and in this Friday’s edition of the Pastoral Times.
Race fields will also be published in Friday’s edition.
An additional feature of the Cup Day celebrations will be a Caulfield Cup Calcutta, to be held at the Deniliquin Bowling Club on Friday, October 18. Calcutta tickets, at $5 each, will be available from 6pm.
