They had a win to Division 5 over the highway at Deni Bowling Club, another close loss for Division 2 away at Tongala and a loss to Division 3 at home against Rich River.
Division 2 were in a great position to topple Tongala late in the day, but the home team pulled out the big guns when it counted.
The Diggers gave up 11 shots across their three rinks over the last six ends to go down 63 to 61.
Mary-Anne Spizer’s team recorded a single shot victory 21 to 20, Linda Harris, Jim Jennings, newly crowned club champion Miro Peterman and Callan Glenn drew 22 to 22 while Tony Tonta’s rink went down 18 to 21.
Callan continues to impress in Division 2, playing beautiful bowls.
Division 3 were no match for Rich River on the Duncan St greens, going down on two rinks, Rich River prevailing 69 to RSL 59.
John Wilson, Brian Clancy, Lindsay Dalzell and Sandra Hill flew the flag for the Diggers with an emphatic rink win 26 to 12 but theirs’ was the only success for the day.
Both Neville Austin’s and Ron Marchetti’s teams went down comprehensively by 10 shots and 14 respectively – Marchetti’s 12 to 22, and Austin’s 21 to 35.
Division 3 were the sole winners for the day defeating Deni Bowling Club in a close tussle 41 to 38, each team winning one rink.
Tim Dover’s team of Don McCalman, Jo Chick and John Hulm battled hard against a Lloyd Ritchie combination, going down 15 to 23, but a solid win to Darcy Nilsson, Graeme Gordon, Danny Stanmore and Wayne Bradley 26 to 15 tipped the scales in favour of the visitors.
