The Deniliquin Triathlon + Canoe Club was well represented at Saturday’s Echuca Moama triathlons.
The twin towns held junior and senior competitions across their multi-sport weekend.
The junior competitions kicked off at Moama Beach on Saturday morning.
Competitors from Bendigo, Shepparton, Deniliquin, Wangaratta and Melbourne were involved in the event.
Seven to 14-year-olds tackled the swim, ride and run which started in the Murray River before following a bush course.
There were 40 competitors involved in the swim, ride and run test of enduance.
Three Deniliquin members participated in the Junior Triathlon — Elka Connolly, Ethan Connolly and Jack McGrillen, while four participants competed in the Sprint Triathlon — Samara Hynes, Natalie Connolly, Lisa Priest and Alex Hay.
Both Elka and Natalie Connolly brought home medals, with Elka finishing second in her division in a very tight finish with the first placegetter.
Natalie finished third in her division with a time of 1:32.22.
Hay also put in a very strong performance, finishing ninth in his very competitive division with a time of 1:11.58.
Samara Hynes unfortunately had an injury and couldn’t complete the run leg, however all participants put in extremely strong performances as terrific representatives for the club.
