Huge, pre-COVID-level crowds packed into Winton Motor Raceway at the weekend for the 47th Historic Winton.

Event director and Austin 7 Club president Len Kerwood said beautiful autumn sunshine greeted attendees on May 25 and 26.

“About 5000 people enjoyed the buzz and spectacle of car, motorcycle and sidecar racing across 48 events,” Mr Kerwood said.

He highlighted the success of the online streaming, allowing fans to watch races on Blend Live TV from the comfort of their homes.

“Highlights included the Cortina Challenge won by Nick Gascone (Melbourne) in his 1963 Ford Cortina,” Mr Kerwood said.

The Harley vs Indian Hand Shift Battle also generated an electrifying buzz around the track.

The Sunday Parade featuring the best of the Shannons car park display, and the almost gymnastic racing of the sidecars was another highlight for those in attendance and online.

The ‘Best Presented’ and other car trophies were given out at a post-race event on Saturday night.

The winners included:

  • Best Presented Car — “Mr Juicy” 1977 Ralt RT1 — driver Malcom Oastler of Candelo, NSW.
  • Best Presented Sports Car — 1970 MG Midget — driver Warren Hotz of Blaxland, NSW.
  • Best Presented Sedan — 1963 Mini Morris Cooper S — driver Tom Tweedie of Darlinghurst, NSW
  • Best Presented Regularity Car — 1960 Aljon Special — driver Angelo Di Donato of Spring Gully, Vic.

The 48th Historic Winton will be held on May, 24 and May 25, 2025.
