Local bowls clubs and their bowlers are patiently waiting for the return of pennant bowls, with midweek and weekend pennant fixtures fast approaching.

The midweek competition resumes on Tuesday, with most play from 10am.
Deniliquin Bowling Club and Mathoura both have teams in Division 1 of the competition.
Deniliquin Bowling Club will host Echuca.
Deniliquin are sitting in second to last on the ladder and will be hoping the top team, Echuca, can be brought down when they play.
Mathoura take on Rich River, but will have the advantage of playing at home.
As it stands, Mathoura sit in second on the division one ladder, while their opponent Rich River occupies the last position.
Deniliquin’s other club, the Deniliquin RSL Bowls Club, competes in Division 2 and Division 3 of the competition.
Deniliquin RSL will be facing off with the Moama Steamers at the Deniliquin RSL greens in round 11.
According to the competition ladder, Moama are the team to beat this year.
They sit soundly at the top of the list with eight wins from 10 matches so far this season.
Deni RSL are in third position, with four wins.
The Division 3 Diggers also take on the Moama Steamers, who also sit atop their grade’s ladder.
RSL are last on the ladder in this division.
The match will be played in Moama.
Round 11 of the weekend pennant competition will open with a local derby in Division 1, with Mathoura to host the Deniliquin Bowling Club on Saturday, January 18.
The Deniliquin team currently sit in fourth and will be looking to take Mathoura out, who sit in sixth, as they try to make their way up the ladder.
The division two weekend pennant draw sees another local rivalry play out.
The two Deniliquin clubs will go head-to-head at the Deniliquin RSL.
Deni Bowling Club have the ladder advantage at this stage of the season, in fourth with five wins, while RSL are 7th with two wins.
In Division 3, Mathoura will host Rich River next Saturday, Deniliquin will take on Moama Steamers Green away and Deniliquin RSL will play away to Elmore.
Deni RSL sits in 6th place on the ladder, one with ahead of Deniliquin Bowling Club.
Mathoura are in ninth, in a competition where Moama Steamers Green are leading.
A combined Mathoura/Echuca team is the only local side competing in Division 4, with the combination to take on Lockington.
It will be another difficult match up, with the Mathoura/Echuca team second to last on the ladder while Lockington are second.
Mathoura/Echuca are yet to win a game this season.
Both Deniliquin clubs have Division 5 sides competing, with Deniliquin RSL to travel to Lockington.
Deniliquin RSL sit 5th of eight possible places on the ladder, and Lockington are 7th.
The third place Deniliquin Bowling Club will host a formidable Moama side next Saturday.
Moama are a strong side who are placed in a commanding first place on the ladder.
