Ava and Makayla are academy bound

Ava Richards has been identified as part of the Under-17 Netball Victoria Talent Academy Program.

An outstanding year of netball achievements has just got even better for local netballers Makayla Finn and Ava Richards.

Both have been identified as talented athletes through selection in the Under-17 Netball Victoria Talent Academy Program in the North East division for 2023.

The program is a development opportunity for talented athletes in three key components - technical and tactical development, athlete well being and physical preparation.

Makayla Finn has also been identified as part of the Under-17 Netball Victoria Talent Academy.

The program aims to assist players to reach their potential, provide an avenue towards state and national representation, and provide essential education that is relevant to netball.

“I feel very proud of this achievement,” Ava said.

“I never believed I was capable of something like this, and I will make the most of the opportunity.”

Makalya has also had a wonderful year and said she would like to “build on her skills and fitness”.

“Playing in the inter-academy tournament in October gave me the opportunity to play with and against some tough, talented opponents and I’m looking forward to the challenge again next year.”
