Nicholls was appointed unopposed at the club’s AGM recently, taking over the top job from Michael Norman, who served three years as president.
Nicholls joined the committee as an executive member last year, and said he he was proud to take on the top job at the club he loves.
His first port of call was to secure a senior coach, with the club locking in Brad Haines for the role last week.
He said that it was an easy decision to make.
‘‘Getting a local bloke was our main aim,’’ Nicholls said.
‘‘Brad loves his fitness and has been out at the club for a long time, so we thought he was the perfect person to step into the role.
‘‘We will both be starting our first year in our roles together, which is a bit daunting for us, but we both have fantastic support around us.
‘‘We still are looking for a seconds coach h, so hopefully we can find the right person soon.’’
The AGM saw all positions on the committee filled.
Jarrod Andrews (vice president), Sarah Macdonald (treasurer) and Mel Dudley (secretary) were all re-elected for their roles and Lonni Grimwood remains as an executive member in the committee.
Kevin Sexton and Leigh Culton also stepped up as executive members, while the general committee includes the following:
Michael Norman, Brett Napier, Chris Haynes, Jane Crowhurst, Andy Lostroh, Kristeen Culton, Warwick Doolan, Tim Brown, Steven Gough, Marcus Jackson, Judy Plattfuss, Mel Morris and Kelly Nicholls.
