A man caught driving without a licence in an unregistered car has received a hefty fine.
Konan John Gordon, 52, of Kyabram, was charged with driving while disqualified, driving an unregistered vehicle and fraudulently using a registration label.
His matter was heard in his absence in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court.
The court heard police stopped Gordon on Fordyce St, Shepparton, shortly after 3.40am on November 12, 2023.
The number plates on his car did not belong to it, and the vehicle was unregistered.
He was also driving while disqualified, having lost his licence for six months in April 2022 and not having applied to get it back.
Gordon’s Ford Fairlane was impounded at the time, at a cost of $1240.
Prosecutor Senior Constable Kerrie Thomson told the court Gordon told them he was driving at the time “to get my medication”.
Gordon was fined $1500, and his licence was suspended for nine months.
