“They came and woke him saying ‘Lord, save us! We are perishing!’.
‘‘He said to them, ‘Why are you terrified, O you of little faith?’.’’
While reading this text I remembered my own experience one afternoon, together with some priests, when we went to an island in the Persian Gulf by boat to have short break and relaxation.
It was late in the afternoon when we came back to the main island, when suddenly a sand storm came.
We were in the middle of the sea when it happened.
It was totally dark and the main island was covered with a thick sand storm.
We were all afraid we would not get to the seaport, or something may happen to us in the middle of the sea.
But we were all praying to the Lord that we may arrive safe and sound to our place.
With this experience I understand the feeling of Jesus’ disciples when they were in the midst of storm terrified and confused.
Each of us has our own story of storm in life. Some of us are still in the middle of the stormy life — terrified, confused, feeling powerless and don’t know where to start.
Others are still in the state of panic and in blaming situation — what will happen to me? Am I going to die?
Let us listen to Jesus.
Close your eyes in silence and ask the Lord to come to help you.
I assure you He will come, maybe not in the way you want but in the ways of the Lord.
Don’t lose your hope, don’t lose your faith.
No storm stays in place for a lifetime. It’s just passing, maybe to teach us and help us become strong.
It will leave a mark in our life not to scare us but to remind us every now and then.
So believe that God will always make the sun shine in your life.
