The White Lion Hotel, through sales of raffle tickets in their meat raffles, recently donated $2000 to the centre.
It is the hope that the funds donated will go toward a sensory play area for the children, helping children with a safe and quiet space.
These funds are sure to enhance the experiences and education of the children who attend Goodstart Early Learning locally.
Mathoura Gun Club goes pink for breast cancer
Mathoura Gun Club will hold its ‘Pink Shoot’ this Saturday, from 10am.
The event aims to raise funds for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is held each October.
The event is being sponsored by the Community Bank Tongala & Mathoura and there will be a Winchester .22 up for grabs in the reverse raffle draw.
With so many expected to be there on the day, as well as competing and making donations, there will be a number of gun club members hoping they reach their fundraising goal for the day.
If the club and those in attendance are able to raise their goal of $5000, club president Jack Carroll will shave his beard off - the one he has been sporting for the last nearly 20 years.
Following the day's proceedings, a donation will be made to the Bra Fence in Mathoura and a barbecue dinner will be held from 5pm.
Dalton rubs shoulders with royalty
NSW Member for Murray Helen Dalton was among those caught up in the fanfare of the visit from ‘The Royals’ - King Charles and Queen Camilla - at the weekend.
The pair attended a church service at St Thomas’ Anglican Church on Sunday.
From there they stepped out to greet, shake hands with and be welcomed by the many Australians who travelled from near and far.
King Charles moved on to Parliament House, where 200 years of the NSW Legislative Council was to be celebrated.
The King also came bearing gifts - an hourglass to time speeches at Parliament House.
Win with Murray Feral Fighters
Locals are being encouraged to join the the Murray Local Land Services Feral Fighters program.
It not only helps rid the region of pests, but you can win big at the same time.
The Feral Fighters program is a community-based initiative helping neighbouring landholders work together to better manage pest animals at a local, regional and state scale through strategic, coordinated group baiting control programs.
The LLS website has resources on pesticide training, reporting pest animal activity and how to get involved.
Being a Murray Feral Fighter also gives you the chance to go in the draw to win some great prizes to incentive pest control in the area.
