CUCs not only support school leavers to continue their studies locally, but also older community members wishing to upskill or change careers.
The application to establish such a centre in Finley is being made by the CUC - Southern Riverina working party, of which Berrigan Shire Council is a member.
The application will also seek the establishment of a CUC in Deniliquin.
While locations are yet to be confirmed, it has been suggested these could be co-located within the existing TAFE campuses in each town.
The application will be submitted on October 18, and supporting documentation will include the CUC - Southern Riverina proving it has an understanding of the educational needs of the community.
Pledges of financial support that would address costs not covered by the grant being applied for will also be required. At least $1 million would be needed.
To provide information on the community’s needs, locals are beibng asked to complete a survey.
To complete the business skills gap survey, go to the CUC Southern Riverina Working Group Facebook page and follow the links.
