While the GDFA is yet to announce whether it will hold a season in 2021, the Wanderers wasted no time and began their pre-season training on Tuesday, January 19.
Club president Jacob Hird said he is also in the process of organising some pre-season games.
‘‘We will look to have the annual Clark Jones Memorial Shield game against Moama as well as some other pre-season games,’’ he said.
‘‘The senior season with the GDFA is still up in the air at this stage though.
‘‘It is up to all the clubs involved to see if they can get teams together.
‘‘We’ve been in contact with the GDFA and they said they are still yet to make a decision.
‘‘As a club we are going ahead and preparing as if the season will be played.’’
The Wanderers will continue training at Rotary Park on Wednesday nights each week at 6.30pm.
Hird said while numbers have been good, the club was hoping to see more players pull on the boots.
‘‘We are always looking for new and returning players to join us,’’ he said.
‘‘We welcome anyone with any level of skill to join in. It’s a great way to keep fit and to have some fun.’’
The Wanderers will also hold their annual general meeting on Wednesday, February 17. The meeting will be held at the Deniliquin RSL Club at 7.30pm.
The AGM will see the club appoint the executive and committee that will be guiding the Wanderers for the coming season.
Past, current and prospective members are invited to come along.
