In the days before the internet, she learned as much as she could from other people in her life and from reading.
Her passion for the industry grew after she started working in local pharmacies, and through the various courses she participated in and through interactions with health providers.
Over many years, she’s absorbed as much information as she could and undertaken studies to become a practitioner herself.
Now a clinical nutritionist and holistic health practitioner, she founded Nurture with Louise.
Her goal to assist people through a range of nutrition and holistic health services.
“Being holistic health, I look at everything,” she said.
“I offer nutrition and naturopathic consultations, can help you understand what supplements you need to be taking, and supply them, and can also provide herbal medicine and teas.
“I can also provide a naturopathic review of your pathology results, in which we look at all your results and find links and then determine what needs to be addressed.
“I can work with you on a health plan to get the best outcome for you.”
Among the many other services offered at Nurture with Louise, Mrs Mace can also conduct an iris analysis during your appointment.
This is part of the health field called iridology - a holistic practice in which a person looks into your eyes to determine any physical ailments that may be present in the body - which Mrs Mace said intrigued her enough to set her on her current path.
“In 1996 I started working for John and Anne at Deniliquin Amcal Pharmacy, and they put me through various training courses which included learning about vitamins and aromatherapy.
“Anne’s brother was an iridologist and would come to Deniliquin regularly to provide his services.
“It fascinated me, and I knew then it was something I wanted to do.
“I started studying to be an iridologist in 2010 but life got in the way, and then again in 2014, but again life got in the way.
“It was in 2020, during COVID, that I did a full assessment of my life and signed up for a number of short courses and four years of naturopathy. I am in my final year now.
“I am also studying iridology with the intention of bringing it back to Deniliquin.”
Nurture with Louise is open Tuesday to Friday, and when she’s not helping her own clients, Mrs Mace is still working part-time at Infinity Pharmacy.
“People should feel free to come and speak with me about their health goals,” Mrs Mace said.
“I’m located at shop 2/344 Cressy St - right between Deirdre’s Hairdressing and Total Bliss.”
