The roaring '20s was the theme of the most recent Lions Hostel fun day.
With the inundation of rain in our area over the past few weeks, the Groutsch family had a lot of time on their hands when usually they would be flat out with harvest.

The family spent time together adding some festive flair to their paddock on the corner of Tuppal and Groutschs Rd with the addition of a Merry Santa Claus made entirely from tyres.
The family members are proud of how well it has come up and welcome the community to come past and look at their creation.
A unique Santa decoration stands proudly on the Groutsch family property.

Entries are open for the 2024 Tocumwal Christmas Lights Competition run by the Tocumwal Community Development Committee.
The prizes this year are Eftpos gift cards valued at $300, $200 and $100.
There are categories for both businesses and homes.
You can register your festively decorated home by emailing tcdc2714@gmail.com with your name, address and phone number.
The mystery judges will be doing their drive around the town between December 18 and 20, so make sure you get your entries in before then.
Businesses do not need to register.

Save the date for the 2024 Carols on the Foreshore.
Jade Camden is once again headlining the event which is set to be held on Saturday, December 21 at the later start time of 7pm to beat the blazing heat.
Santa will be dropping in to say hello and the winners of the Christmas Lights competition will be announced.

Tocumwal Lions Club welcomed three new members on Sunday, December 8.
Lions Club members, Lions Retirement Village residents and Railway Heritage Museum volunteers came together for a Christmas dinner on the Sunday evening at the Lions Function Rooms.
During the evening, the V6 District Governor Julie Ballard from Katamatite Lions Club inducted new members Kylie and Oli Flury and Geoff Edwards, sponsored by Keith and Carol Kennedy.
District Governor Julie also presented Millstone Chevron Awards recognising years of service to Dr Balaji Rao (50 years), Keith Kennedy (45 years), Arthur Dixon (30 years) and Carol Kennedy (25 years).
As the year comes to an end, the Lions Club was also proud to present annual scholarships and book awards to students at Tocumwal Public School and Sacred Heart School.
At the Toc Lions celebration were Keith Kennedy, Oli and Kylie Flury, Geoff Edwards, District Governor Julie Ballard and Carol Kennedy.

Tocumwal Lions Community Hostel hosted another fun day for its residents, this time with the theme of gangster and flapper dress up.
The kitchen cooked up chicken a la king for the main meal and peach melba for dessert, which were two classic meals of the Roaring ‘20s era.
The residents even enjoyed a pink gin spritz with their lunch.
By all reports, it was a brilliant day with lots of fun had by the staff and residents.

Tickets for the Tocumwal Cricket Club’s Giant Christmas Stocking raffle are now on sale, with more than 40 prizes stuffed into the giant stocking.
Tickets can be purchased from the front of IGA on Friday, December 20, at the Tocumwal Post Office, Ice Creamery, Homewood Bound and The Foreshore Cafe. The tickets are $5 each or three for $10.
First prize is the giant stocking and a set of Cleveland golf clubs, second prize scores a gliding experience valued at $300, and third prize will get a $200 voucher for Betta Electrical. The prizes will be drawn on Saturday, December 21.
The Cricket Club thanks its sponsors who generously donated prizes for this major fundraiser, and the community for purchasing tickets to support the club.

Rao Medical Clinic will be open at reduced hours this festive season.
They are open Christmas Eve and then closed on weekends and public holidays, but will have a nurse available every other day.
Normal trading hours will resume on Monday, January 6.
