Jesse, Brooke and Beau Jervis were asked to give viewers a taste of the skills they will be demonstrating when competing at the Muster this weekend.
The whole family of whipcrackers have had a very busy year of competition and demonstrations.
You can read all about it in today’s PT Sport, on our back page.
Take care
The long weekend is here, and so is the long-awaited Deni Ute Muster.
Coinciding with the school holidays, it’s important to remember this means the roads and shops will be busier than normal.
But remember it’s also a long weekend in NSW, which means Operation Labour Day 2023 and double demerit points are in effect until 11.59pm on Monday.
Ensure you’re making the right decisions on the road and before getting behind the wheel.
To locals and all those visiting the wonderful town of Deniliquin, have fun and stay safe this weekend.
The sheep and the hound
Observant locals and customers of Nutrien Ag Solutions Deniliquin would probably be familiar with the sheep statue at the Davidson St business.
But it seems the woolly imposter caught a few people off guard in the mayhem of the Deni Ute Muster traffic yesterday.
The life-size sheep was sitting out on the front nature strip of the business, and it seems quite a few people thought it was real.
The store received a number of calls from passers-by alerting them to an escaped sheep.
So the team decided to have a bit of fun with it.
The sheep was laid on its back and a toy blue heeler placed ‘on guard’ to complete the look.
And while it may have stopped a few of the calls, the humorous display did prompt a few people to honk their horns in applause.
By the afternoon, as the traffic jam dissipated, the sheep was back up on all fours.
State nod for two locals
Congratulations to creative Deniliquin talents Judith Bond and Linda Maher, who were both state finalists in competitions at the Melbourne Royal Show.
And an extra round of applause for Linda who won the 2023 VAS Ltd Embroidery State Final.
While Judith did not win in her section, being a state finalist for the 2023 VAS Ltd Patchwork State Final is still a fantastic achievement.
Deniliquin locals can be proud of their achievements.
Such successes are a source of inspiration and motivation for others in the community.
Time jump
Just a friendly reminder that Daylight Saving begins this Sunday.
This means that we will be losing an hour of sleep.
While it might take a few days for your body’s internal clock to adjust, it’s important to remember that all clocks will jump ahead by an hour at 2am Sunday.
So don’t forget to set your clocks forward before going to bed on Saturday.
Daylight Saving also serves as a great reminder that it’s time to change the battery in your smoke alarms.
PT office closed
Due to the public holiday on Monday, the Deniliquin Pastoral Times office will be closed.
Journalists will be available by phone only.
Our office will re-open at 8.30am Tuesday, with copies of our post-Muster edition at the ready.
