The consistent rain and cool temperatures didn’t stop the concert goers from enjoying an afternoon full of wonderful music.
Organisers said the concert was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Sunday soaking
On that rain on Sunday, it’s probably the best soak we’ve had in a while.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology, 11.6mm was recorded at the Deniliquin Airport weather station in the 24 hours to 9am yesterday.
But we know others around the region get varying results in their own water gauges.
A north Deniliquin resident, for example, measured 13.5mm.
With negligible rainfall on other June days, the BoM’s official rain reading for June is now 12.4mm so far.
The total rainfall recorded for May was 34.2mm, with the largest single day of rain being 7.8mm recorded in the 24 hours to 9am on May 12.
The BoM recorded 71.2mm in April, 29.8mm in March, 0.6mm in February and 42.4mm in January.
Community roadshow
Now is your chance to discuss Edward River Council’s 2022/2023 draft budget and Community Strategic Plan.
Council kicked off their community roadshow in Conargo yesterday.
They will be at Deniliquin Golf Club at 1pm tomorrow, and will head to Pretty Pine Hotel for a 5pm meeting.
Thursday they will be at Wanganella at noon and Blighty Recreational Hall in the afternoon.
Controversial business
When those who are charged with being our leaders have potentially controversial business to discuss, it’s probably best that it is done in a private and confidential setting.
We’re told there was a ruckus, with raised voices and slammed doors, during a recent heated exchange at a local licensed venue.
We are also advised all is not happy in the camp, which is not healthy. Or is it ‘health’ that is causing the friction?
Liz and Platycam go viral
Former local Liz Mecham is not new to the media given her former life as a journalist - including with the Pastoral Times - but has seen herself thrust back into the media limelight in the past week.
Now based in Hamilton, Victoria, Liz has become the spokesperson for the Glenelg Hopkins Catchment Management Authority’s latest project, which is garnering all kinds of positive attention.
Platycam launched last week.
As the name suggests, the project is a livestream of Platypus activity on the Grange Burn in Hamilton.
Anyone tuning in to the 24/7 service will have the opportunity to view this duck-billed, beaver-tailed, otter-footed, fur-covered, egg-laying aquatic creature native to Australia in it’s natural environment.
In the days after the May 30 launch, 3AW and The Age jumped on the bandwagon, The Age insinuating it may even be more entertaining than whatever is on Netflix.
And then Liz appeared live on ABC LIVE NEWS talking about the program.
