Lightning is believed to have been the cause of a tree fire in Mathoura reported about 1pm Tuesday.
The Mathoura brigade responded with one truck and crew.
Trees hit by lightning may not burn straight away.
There can be a slow burn in the core of the tree that may not be visible for days, or even weeks.
Any fires should be reported immediately to 000.

Arcing power lines is the likely cause of a grass fire off the Conargo Rd at Deniliquin on Tuesday.
The fire was reported about 2pm.
As a high fire danger day, the Mid Murray Rural Fire Service deployed an aerial bomber to “hit it hard and fast, and slow the spread”.
Firefighters from the Deniliquin RFS brigade then worked to extinguish the blaze, which burned an area measuring about 200m by 50m.
Five Deni firefighters attended, with one truck.
