The group’s major fundraising events, a High Tea and annual garden cart raffle, both generated substantial funds.
Throughout 2024 the Optimists have donated to 10 organisations.
Recipients include Moira Food Share, Finley High School Agriculture Department, Tocumwal Swimming Pool, Tocumwal Men’s Shed, Dutch Thunder Wildlife, Royal Flying Doctor Service (the local transport sector), Tocumwal Community Development Committee, Tocumwal Public School, Sacred Heart Primary School and Tocumwal Christmas Toy Appeal.
The Optimists appreciate the support of the Tocumwal and wider communities who have contributed so generously to their fundraising efforts.

The Tocumwal Community Development Committee (TCDC) held a successful Kids Gone Fishing Day on Sunday.
The weather was perfect and there was a crowd of excited children and parents all cheering each other on when fish, and even two turtles, were caught by those fishing from the bank. The TCDC was busy cooking a barbecue and taking photos of the prized catches, then they announced that every child would be receiving a prize.
Names of the 40 children who registered for the event and were in attendance were drawn out of a hat and were each gifted a fishing rod and reel or tackle box. The rod combos were purchased using a grant from NSW Maritime and the tackle boxes were purchased by the TCDC.
A boating safety and maritime officer was even on hand with advice and regulations around safety on the Murray River before the group dispersed to enjoy cod season opening day.

A reminder that the Tocumwal Ambulance Committee along with Berrigan Shire invite the community to attend a public meeting tonight at 7pm at the Tocumwal Football Netball Clubrooms.
It is the second community meeting to gauge interest in forming a local Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) in Tocumwal. NSW Ambulance from Sydney will again attend to provide more information and answer any questions the community may have regarding its operation, while giving information on the training that would be undertaken by the CERT team.
Please attend as you may be able to help the Tocumwal community as a volunteer.
There will be a light supper afterwards.
Please RSVP to ambo4toc@berriganshire.nsw.gov.au or phone 5888 5100 at Berrigan Shire Office for catering purposes. Walk-ins are also very welcome.

Donations for the Christmas Giving Tree close this Friday, December 6 to allow time for the gifts to be distributed to local families in need.
Tocumwal Post Office is teaming up with the team at Tocumwal Pharmacy this year to help put smiles on our local kids’ faces on Christmas morning. If you can place an unwrapped gift or voucher for a child of any age under the tree, they will be distributed to local families in need this festive season.
Gifts do not have to be purchased from the pharmacy or post office, although if you are buying from these stores, please let staff know so they can mark the product before it is placed under the tree.
There are many families in need of support and your generosity is greatly appreciated.
