The scholarships are available to students who are attending a tertiary institution in 2021.
This includes university, TAFE and other recognised tertiary education providers.
Mayor Ruth McRae said assisting local students to gain further education is a strong focus of council.
‘‘Helping take some of the financial strain off local students while they study is very important to our council,’’ she said.
Cr McRae also said education is seen as an integral part of community development, with the aim of equipping our local community with the qualifications to succeed in the workforce.
‘‘We are extremely hopeful that our tertiary students will return to our area and take up professional positions when they complete their education.’’
The council offers three scholarships to the value of $1000.
Applicants must live within Murrumbidgee Council Local Government Area.
More information is available at www.murrumbidgee.nsw.gov.au, or from the council offices at Coleambally, Darlington Point and Jerilderie.
