Nominations closed on Wednesday, with the ballot order determined.
Incumbent Helen Dalton, now an independent, drew eighth on the ballot.
Her biggest rival, Nationals hopeful Peta Betts, drew fourth on the ballot.
Adrian Carle from the Legalise Cannabis Party drew the top spot on the ballot.
Labor’s candidate is Griffith-based Max Buljubasic.
Mr Buljubasic is no stranger to the voters, having run for the party in 2015 when he polled 16.2 per cent primary vote against the then incumbent and Nationals politician Adrian Piccoli.
Three independents, including Mrs Dalton, have thrown their hat into the ring.
Greg Adamson, who is based at Griffith, and the Wakool-based David Landini are the other two independents.
The Shooters, Fishers and Farmers will be looking to take back the seat of Murray with its candidate Desiree Gregory.
When elected in 2019 Ms Dalton was with SFF, but parted ways with the party in March last year.
It was after the party’s upper house members abstained from voting on a disallowance motion for floodplain harvesting, which Mrs Dalton considers a key policy for her constituency.
Kevin Farrell (Public Education Party), Michael Florance (Sustainable Australia Party) and Amelia King (The Greens) round out the candidates.
Sportsbet had Murray being retained by an independent as the most likely scenario yesterday, at $1.50 odds.
The odds of Ms Betts winning the seat were at $2.50, followed by Mr Buljubasic at $26 and Ms King at $51.
Labor is the $1.25 favourite to win the overall election from the Coalition at $4.25.

Three of the 10 candidates had formally accepted an invite to appear at tomorrow night’s Deniliquin Business Chamber meet the candidates session by the the time the Pastoral Times had gone to print yesterday.
Ms Dalton, Mr Adamson and Mr Landini will all be in attendance.
Ms Bett’s team provided a verbal indication she would be in attendance, but no formal acceptance in writing has been received.
Chamber executive officer said all other candidates were contacted at the close of the polls on Wednesday, and had until 5pm last night to respond.
The meet the candidates session will be hosted at the Coach House Hotel tomorrow from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.
