Social club members Sandra Hill and Elaine Crisp were “thrilled” to deliver the cheque to the school last week.
Given the donation was a surprise, an exact use for the funds at the school is yet to be decided.
Mrs Hill said the funds were raised through the social club’s Friday night meat raffles.
“We make a group decision on who we will donate to and how much, depending on what we have raised,” she said.
“We try to donate at least once or twice a year.”
Previous recipients of social club donations have been Deniliquin Can Assist and Deniliquin St Vincent de Paul, as well as Deniliquin’s Edward Public School which allowed it to build a stage in the hall for performances and events.
Deni North acting principal Megan Hunter said the school is “extremely grateful for the social club’s donation”.
“This generosity will allow us to be more innovative in what we allocate the funds to,” she said.
“We are thinking maybe an AED defibrillator, as they are important for all schools and workplaces.
“Or it could go towards our high performance vehicle challenge program.
“It is a great learning and competing tool for our students, and we would dearly love a trailer of our own to transport the equipment to competitions.”
