With the gates at the relatively new Deniliquin Waring Gardens adventure playground a target for vandals, Edward River Council and SunRice knew something had to be done.
New gates less susceptible to damage have been installed around the playground.
It gives parents and carers piece of mind their children can enjoy the space without fear they might escape the enclosure.
The new gates were installed in time for the Edward River Community Christmas Party on December 16, where their strength was really put to the test.
The project was led by SunRice’s maintenance team, and maintenance manager Dom Kelly.
“Many of our SunRice team have children or grandchildren that use the park and knowing we were able to play a part in keeping all our kids safe was a key driver for us,” Mr Kelly said.
SunRice people and culture business partner Sharon Bloomfield said the project fit in to the company’s refreshed vision on supporting the community.
“Our values represent what SunRice stands for and form the foundation on which we build our culture,” she said.
“They guide what we do and how we do it, as we strive to achieve our mission and vision.
“One of our core values is community. We care deeply for the people and places that care for us.
“In October this year, SunRice group launched a refresh of our purpose and vision, and we will continue to bring those values to life and shape how we work together.”
