In his president’s report at Sunday’s AGM, John Henderson said despite COVID-19 the the club is in a strong position with membership among senior club members increasing.
Junior membership, Tuesday ladies and Croquet Club numbers remain stable.
‘‘With the new lights allowing night tennis, 80 members were playing on Wednesday evenings with modified rules that are termed Fast 6,’’ Henderson said.
‘‘Financially the club has not been badly impacted yet, as (fundraising at) the Ute Muster last year was a great success and somewhat covered the losses and expected boost from the four day Easter Tennis Tournament being cancelled.
‘‘I’d like to thank the committee for their assistance, but I particularly want to thank previous president Lourene Liebenberg for her great effort over many years as a committee member.
‘‘Lourene has been dynamic and enthusiastic in all aspects of the club, including being a driving force behind maintaining the Souvlaki Stand at the Ute Muster. We are one of the few local organisations still operating a stall.
‘‘Lourene — along with Dean (Irwin) and Barry (Barlow) — has also been a key component in the organisation of the Easter tournament.’’
New members inducted to the committee at Sunday’s meeting are Felicity Dye, Mark Ritchie and Bill Dudley.
Executive roles are in the hands of long-term committee members like Henderson, Clive Gow, Harley Moore and Nick Metcalfe. The treasurer position is yet to be filled, with a suitable replacement for outgoing treasurer Colleen Henderson being sought.
‘‘The committee has identified the completion of the six new courts and additional works as the first jobs that need to be completed,’’ Mr Henderson said.
‘‘We also need to install the lights rescued from the North Tennis Club around our courts.
‘‘The committee has committed to continuing their stall at the Ute Muster and also to running the Western Riverina Championships next Easter if possible.’’
